Knock and Killbeg ferry.

The burning issue of the moment is the proposed ferry between Illaunavee and Killbeg at the narrowest point of the Corrib. About fifteen years ago there was great interest in a proposed brdge. The government of the day had the money available; provided the cost of the feasability study was borne by Galway County Council. Needless to say; like the bridge designed more than a century before by Alexander Nimmo; the 20th  century bridge did not get built. Now belatedly the local population on both sides of the river have become passionate environmentalists. Tony Whilde would be delighted if he were alive today!
